The MND Association Cheshire Branch would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Wilmslow Running Club and race organiser Rob Downs for selecting the branch as one of the beneficiaries of this year’s Round the Runway race, held in Mobberley on Tuesday 30 June 2026.
Round the Runway is an annual community event organised by Wilmslow Running Club, with proceeds donated to charity each year. This year’s event held particular significance, as it was dedicated in part to supporting the MND Association following the diagnosis of a local runner who had previously enjoyed taking part in the race.
Despite challenging weather, with heavy rain falling for much of the evening, around 400 runners took part in the event. The race is expected to raise more than £3,000 for the MND, with the final amount to be confirmed once all event accounts have been completed.
Joining runners at the start were Cheshire Branch member Rob Hasler, who completed the opening section of the course in his wheelchair, accompanied by his friend Alex, who recently completed the Leeds Marathon. The course became unsuitable for wheelchairs after approximately a mile and a half, but it was wonderful to see Rob taking part and being included in the event. Rob’s wife, Saranya (Reen), completed the full race.
Representing the MND Association Cheshire Branch on the evening were Joel, Sally and David, who were delighted to attend, meet participants and thank everyone involved for their support.
We are incredibly grateful to Wilmslow Running Club, the organisers, volunteers and every runner who braved the wet conditions to make the event such a success. Community fundraising events like this play a vital role in helping us continue to support people living with motor neurone disease and their families across Cheshire.
Thank you once again to everyone involved! We look forward to hearing the final fundraising total and celebrating another fantastic community effort.
